Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 Oct 2026.

This policy explains what we do with the personal data we receive, under Uruguay’s Personal Data Protection Law (Ley 18.331). Ley 18.331 on IMPO (in Spanish).

Data controller

Genry Leyva, who runs Mochila Oriental (Uruguay). For anything about personal data: contacto@mochilaoriental.uy.

What data we receive

  • If you write to us through the contact form: the topic and the message and, if you fill them in, your name, your email and the place or page you are writing about. Also the page of the site you came from.
  • If you email us: whatever you include in the message, and your address.
  • While you browse we use no cookies, no analytics and no accounts. The first-visit notice is remembered in your browser (local storage) and never leaves your device.
  • Like any website, the hosting provider logs technical data about each visit (IP address, browser, page requested) to serve and protect the site. The map loads its images from an external provider, which also receives your IP address.

What we use it for

Only to read your message, reply if you left your email and, if you report an error, fix the site. We do not use it for advertising, we send no newsletters and we do not sell or share it.

Who else receives it

The site relies on these services, which process data on our behalf:

  • Resend: delivers the contact form messages to our inbox.
  • Cloudflare (Email Routing): receives email sent to mochilaoriental.uy and forwards it to our inbox.
  • Google (Gmail): hosts the inbox where we read and answer messages.
  • Vercel: hosts the site and the function that receives the form.

These services process data outside Uruguay: Resend in Brazil; Cloudflare, Google and Vercel in the United States and other countries. By sending the form you accept that transfer, which is needed for the message to reach us.

How long we keep it

Messages are kept for up to 12 months after the last exchange and then deleted. The hosting provider’s technical logs are kept according to Vercel’s own periods.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, update it or delete it. Email contacto@mochilaoriental.uy with the subject “Personal data” and we will reply within the time limits set by law.

If you think we have not respected your rights, you can file a complaint with the Uruguayan data protection authority (URCDP).

Changes

If we change this policy, you will see it on this page with its new date.
